pronunciation | mA-‘rak-E #meraki, verb, greek, love, creativity, creative, art, passion, writing, work, words, otherwordly, other-wordly, definitions, M
Every language has words that convey deeper meanings.  They explain a feeling, a concept.  This week this word explains how I feel.

I have decided I need a muse.  I need to get back to my writing roots and get my creativity back.  For the next few weeks this will be my mission.  I am getting out of my comfort zone and into a whole new world.

Go out, do something creative.   It's good for the soul.

Blush Mystery Beauty Box April 2014

There are many things I love in my life and one of those things just so happens to be beauty boxes.  Blush sends out a box every month that I always love, and while this month I wasn't initially blown away I quickly came to realize how that opinion was oh so wrong.

Darphin Stimulskin Plus-  This is a high end moisturizer that I am excited to have my mother try out.  I have so many moisturizers that I don't even know what to do with them all, and this one is right up my mom's street.

Cult Nail Polish- This bright pink shade called Laguna is really pretty and summery.  I might try it out on my toes before I go full bore on my nails.  I'm a wimp, I know.

Vapour Nail Polish- I think this is a mistake.  It wasn't something that came with the box, and it was a nice extra to get, but I'm lumping it in with the rest of the box because its awesome.  This bright red shade is called Scandal, and I love love love it.  I can't wait for the right occasion to sport long red nails.

Oscar Blandi Invisible Dry Shampoo- I've heard rave reviews about the stuff and to be honest I still don't have all the love in the world for dry shampoo.  I would never splurge on this myself, but I can say I will try it out and give you all a full review on this.

Jonathan Infinite Volume Shampoo-  Volumizing shampoo?  Do I need it?  No.  Do I want it?  Kind of.  I want root lift, not end lift, so if this can give me that I am a believer.  If not, To the gifting bin it goes.

Extra Samples
Kevyn Aucoin The Liquid Airbrush Foundation Shade 5
Whish Hair Inhibiting Swipe

Something New! Something New!
So I would really like some feedback on this picture.  Not only is this my first attempt at "staging a photo", but it also holds another product from this month's box.  If you want more pictures like this just leave me a comment below.

Love Lips Collection Duo Lip Crayon- The shade I received is called Luscious.  The liner is a beautiful plum color and the color has so much glitter in it it's staggering, but overall I love this color and I wish it was still winter so I could wear it all the time.

Would you subscribe to the Blush Beauty Box?  Do you want more pretty photo's, or basic ones?
Let me know!

Motivational Wednesday

Hey There Dolls,

Welcome to another addition of Motivational Wednesday on Hey There Dollface!

Beautiful quote
This week's quote is a little reminder to all of us stuck in the real world AKA adulthood.  We all have rough days. Those days that drag on forever, never seem to end, and are full of nothing but hardships and frustration.  We all lose sight of the little things that make our days good, and focus on the hardships we face.  We lose our silver linings.  We lose our magic.  We walk through our days with gray eyes.  Overlooking little miracles, little secret gems of happiness.

Don't lose your magic.  Don't lose your sparkle.  Don't lose your shine. Think of the silver linings.

Allure Sample Society Beauty Box April 2014

It's Beauty Box Time!

I've been sitting on this box for a few days now, and finally found the time (and the lighting) to take pictures and show you all what goodies landed on my doorstep this month.

Tatcha Blotting Sheets:  Apparently these sheets are the same ones (well... not the same ones) that the Geisha's used.  Now, I've never used blotting papers successfully before but I'm willing to do anything to get rid of the shine this spring.

butter LONDON Wink eye pencil in Inky Six:  Blue liner pencil?  Not what I was expecting, and with hazel eyes (green and brown) it's hard to use anything blue without looking like I'm trying too hard.  Nevertheless, I'll use it.  It may take a trip out, or fancy date to make it happen, but it'll happen.

H2O Micro Collagen Moisturizer:  I love H2O.  I own quite a few face products from them.  But!  I'm tired of moisturizers, so I may just gift this.  On the plus side it smells good though!

Illume Soy Candle in Amenone:  Smells like flowers.  So many flowers.  Can't even handle it. Fun fact though- I have the matching hand creme so at least I know to gift that before I waste the sample.

Clark's Botanicals Deep Moisture Mask:  For all the masks I have, I don't have a moisturizing one.  So this makes me a happy kitten. Apparently you can use it as a moisturizer, or a mask, which is always nice. I like the smell, love the packaging, and feel like this will give me at least three uses.

Overall I like the array of products in the box, but sadly, for the first month in a while, I may not have a standout favorite product.  Seeing as this is box one of four I get a month I'm still hopeful that something good will come that I won't be able to hide away!

B. Kamins Laboratories Vegetable Cleanser

Now, I don't know about you, but after a long day of work all I want to do is take my makeup off, get into some comfy clothes, and relax.  The comfy clothes part I have down to a science, the taking my makeup off without scrubbing my face raw or ending up with crazy raccoon eyes thing?  Eh, Still working on it.  Which is exactly why I'm excited to introduce this cute little bottle of love which I kind of already spoiled for you guys in this post.

B. Kamins Laboratories Vegetable Cleanser

First Impression: I'm liking this pump.  Wait, where are the bubbles?  Why does this not smell good?  I'm skeptical.

After Application: I miss the bubbles.  Hold on a second, no raccoon eyes?  No weird left over makeup?  I don't have to wash my face twice?  Yeah buddy I'm liking this.
Overall: I realized I can't judge a cleanser by it's smell alone.  This product doesn't smell particularly good (now it doesn't smell terrible either, just not that "refreshing" smell they're peddling for us ladies and gents lately), it initially turned me off from wanting to use this product, and I have now learned my lesson on judging a book by it's cover, or cleanser by its smell.  It works fabulously.  I've been using this almost daily for a few weeks and it leaves no residue, no makeup, there is no double cleansing to get the left over makeup off my face, nothing.  It doesn't dry out my face, irritate it in any way, and it in fact has calmed down my skin.  I'm beginning to wonder how I ever valued a fragranced cleanser over this one.

Repurchase: Yes.  Or a fragrance free cleanser.  But probably just this.  I want the love affair to never end, the breakouts to stay away, and the raccoon eyes never to see the light of day again.

Do you have a favorite fragrance free cleanser?  Are you a liquid cleanser or a balm cleanser person?

Alterna Caviar CC Cream

It's time to review a product in one of my least talked about, but favorite topics, HAIRCARE!
I have extremely damaged, uneven, breakage prone, multi textured, and generally cranky hair.  It can look amazing one minute, and the next it turns into what I have affectionately named "the lions mane".  I am constantly looking for things to tame the mane, and this stuff right here makes me drool just thinking about it.

Alterna Caviar CC Cream

First Impression: What is CC Cream for hair?  Is there caviar in here? Oh! Alterna!  I'm already biased.

After Application: This smells like I want everything in my life to smell.  Hmm, I think I used too much.  I like how this feels.  I'm still biased.

Overall: Love smells like this product.  Love also describes how this makes my hair look when used on a daily basis.  It makes my hair shiny, manageable, brings out just the right amount of curls while still leaving my hair with volume. It doesn't bother my skin, or my scalp, which I can never complain about. The smell doesn't linger as long as I would like (AKA forever), but it does stay around for a pretty good while.  I still don't know what a CC Cream for hair is, but I know I like it, and I want more.

Repurchase: Yes.  A million times yes.  I am already planning on purchasing a full sized bottle of this and practically everything else Alterna sells.  Alterna, if you see this, I love your brand.  Keep the goodies in production! Oh, and what exactly is a CC Cream?

Has anyone tried anything from the brand Alterna?  Any suggestions?

Motivational Wednesday

There will always be people trying to drag you backwards. Stay strong and move forward. You deserve to be a butterfly not a caterpillar #strength #quotes

Life is full of people that try to hold you back. They try to put you into a box to feel powerful, in control, a sense of sameness.  As soon as you break free of those negative feelings, those negative people, they try desperately to put you back into the box you just escaped from.

Don't let them.

We are each made to be unique, and to be accepted, appreciated, and celebrated for it.  Never apologize for how you look or who you are.  It's what makes you you, and you are pretty damn awesome.
